History

Dias Group started its operation on the 3rd February 1976 with the first publication of its daily morning newspaper “Simerini”. Today’s Chairman of the Board of Directors Mr Costas N. Hadjicostis came up with the idea.

In June 1979, it was renamed to “Dias United Publishing Co Ltd”. On May 17, 1986, the company published the magazine “To Periodiko” with topics related to news and lifestyle.  It was published weekly as an independent magazine and later on as a package with the Sunday issue of “Simerini” until January 2013.

On January 28, 1989, the afternoon paper “Deilini” was published.

In 1988, the construction of Dias Group Court began and in 1990 -when it was completed- all of its executive, financial, editorial and technical services were housed there.

Radio Proto won the audience in a short time whilst contributing to the consolidation and establishment of independent private radio, as well as the liberation of electronic mass media in Cyprus.

Throughout its history, the DIAS Group published and released well-known magazine titles that were loved by the Cypriot readership. Today, it publishes and circulates three international titles. The monthly magazines "MADAME FIGARO", the first women's magazine in Cyprus, "TIME OUT" and the weekly magazine "OK!". In 2016, the economic magazine "CAPITAL ECONOMY TODAY" was launched.

"SUPER FM" joined DIAS Group as a partner. It has been operating since March 1998 and established itself as the most popular music, youth frequency in Cyprus.

Sigmalive was created in November 2007, when Andy Hadjicostis the CO of the Group wanted to make his own revolution in the local cyber-world, seeking to turn users into committed readers by offering something local, modern, different and technologically advanced.

“SIGMA” television station is part of DIAS Group as a cooperating media partner, for the production and presentation of news, like Sigmalive.com, Radio Proto and Simerini newspaper.

The television channel SIGMA was first broadcasted on April 3, 1995.
